Chapel Our Lady of Good Hope
Situated in the village of Kerber, this is one of the two remaining chapels on the island. Next to it was to be found in former times the Manor of the Marquis de Rieux, who became proprietor of Ushant in 1598. It was sold as a state possession during the revolution. Its stones were used to build some of the village houses and one on them bears the coat of arms of the Eussaf d'Oixant family - long since extinguised - whose motto was "mar kouez en em sav" : "if he falls, he gets up again". The Ushant Flag, which can be seen at the townhall, is based on this coat of arms.
