Eglise Saint Pol AurélienThe Church of St. Paul Aurelien, the island's only church, is to be found in the heart of Lampaul village.

The church was rebuilt in 1860, according to the plans of the architect Le Bigot and is dedicated to the first evangelist to come to the island in 517.

The only remnants of the ancient church are some statues, among which one of St Barbe (XVI) and another of the Christ,  to be found behind the main altar. The spire remained unfinished for many years and was finally completed thanks to a gift from the British Crown in 1896, following the shipwreck of the Drummond Castle, a steam-packet that foundered on the Pierres Vertes west of Molène Island  in heavy fog. Of the 243 people on board only three survived, and the islanders gave a decent burial to all the bodies found.
